On 26 March, GMG notified the Broadcasting Council (BC) that it was reorganised by merger (absorption). As an absorbing person, it become the successor to Radio Media Group’s rights and obligations and requested the update of licences. GMG also announced that it assumed ownership of patrimonial and non-patrimonial rights of the absorbed company.
At its meeting on 25 April, BC admitted unanimously the request to update the broadcast licenses for Publika FM and Muz FM by changing the data on license holders from Radio Media Group to GMG.
Previously, international organisations such as Reporters without Borders drew attention to the dangers of media ownership concentration phenomenon on media pluralism in the Republic of Moldova.
According to the law, an individual may be the beneficial owner of maximum two television services and of maximum two radio services.
