According to Cristal, he would have information that the authorities would try to take over abusively the national frequency from Canal 2 in favour of another TV channel, ‘which promotes interests foreign to our country’. The portals affiliated with the Democrats previously wrote, among the first, about the intention of Accent TV, affiliated with the socialists, to rebroadcast the Russian channel Pervii Canal, which is currently broadcasting on the frequencies of the PRIME TV channel.
According to the same press release, Telestar Media recommended to the authorities that the national frequency Canal 2 renounced ‘should be returned to the Television Corporation, the previous owner of this frequency, in order to broadcast TVR Moldova in the Republic of Moldova’. Note that TVR Moldova is currently broadcasting in the Republic of Moldova, but not on national frequency.
Publika TV wrote, referring to the press release signed by Oleg Cristal, that ‘the broadcast grid and the content of Canal 2 programs will not be affected by this decision’. Canal 2 news and programs would continue to be broadcast through the cable operators in the country.
Asked by Media-azi.md to comment on the company’s announcement, BC representatives stated that they found out about this from the press and didn’t know at that moment if BC received requests to that end.

On 27 September 2007, the Broadcasting Coordination Council licensed ‘2 Plus’ TV channel for the State Network No II, on which TVR 1 programs were rebroadcast. The TV channel was owned by the British company ‘Telefem International’ SRL and managed by the current BC member, Veronica Cojocaru. In its turn, this company was founded by OTIV PRIME MEDIA B.V.
Previously, the local television channel Canal 2 Nisporeni launched about ten months before the parliamentary elections of February 2019, shut down.
In July 2019, RISE Moldova wrote that a number of properties registered on Finpar Invest’s name, a company affiliated to democrat MP Vladimir Plahotniuc, were seized by investigators within a criminal case initiated for money laundering. Among these were also seized the company’s studios where Prime TV, Publika TV, Canal 2 and Canal 3 are currently working, as well as Publika FM and MUZ FM radio stations.
