The Press Council of Moldova to ask the Press Council of Russia to examine the case of information concerning Moldova on the “Pervy kanal” television

The Press Council of Moldova took to examine the case of the “Voskresnoye vremya” show of the Russian Pervy kanal television (rebroadcast in Moldova by the General Media Group company) broadcasting on Sunday, 29 June 2014, information allegedly coming from some unnamed “news agencies” about “Moldovan authorities’ permission to shoot into participants of demonstrations of those who do not want into Europe.”

The Press Council will examine the compliance of this information with internationally approved rules of journalistic ethics and with recommendations of European and international journalism organizations.

At the same time, the Press Council of Moldova will ask the Press Council of Russia (the Public Board for Press Complaints of the Russian Federation, Общественная коллегия по жалобам на прессу Российской Федерации) to examine this case through the prism of the Russian Code of professional journalist ethics and of the Broadcasters Charter of the Russian Federation.
