Publika TV published on Wednesday a statement to clarify some points regarding the discussions in the media and on social networks about the threats Daniel Lachi, a Publika employee, addressed to Mrs. Alina Turcanu.
According to the TV station, Mr. Lachi's threats sent to the journalist by phone were 'a discussion of personal character' and did not involve the company in any way.

‘Mr. Lachi specified that his alleged threats addressed to Mrs. Turcanu were actually a promise to follow closely her future posts on social networks and punish her by commenting on them; he never meant to get physical,’ said Publika TV.
However, the TV station also stated that it dissociated itself from any form of misconduct and therefore Oleg Cristal, the head of the News Department at General Media Group (which includes PUBLIKA .MD), apologized to Mrs. Turcanu.

‘Publika TV has never interfered and will never interfere in the private activities of its employees and contractuals; however, the company expects them to refrain from harming the institution and jeopardizing the image of the profession through inappropriate behavior or offences,’ says the public statement signed by the Head of the GMG News Department, Oleg Cristal, and the Department’s Editor General, Cristian Tabara.

In a new post on her Facebook page, Alina Turcan commented: ‘If the threats and swearing addressed to a journalist in response to her justified critical opinion mean, according to the male bosses of the General Media Group (which includes PUBLIKA .MD) ‘freedom of personal opinion’ that cannot be limited by them, and ‘private activities of employees’, then I do not know what to say, other than ‘no comment’.’
