The OSCE Mission to Moldova organizes a two-day workshop on the specifics of reporting on diversity and national minorities in Moldova. During the workshop, the participants will review international and local standards of ethical reporting on national minority issues and the challenges posed by the discriminatory speech to interethnic peace. Factors leading to discrimination and stereotyping in the media, will be discussed along with the good practices to contest these issues. The participants will also learn how journalists through their every-day work can facilitate intercultural dialogue, and promote inclusive and pluralistic public discussion in multi-ethnic societies.

Following the workshop, participants willing to write an article on a topic related to theme of the workshop, will be offered an opportunity to have a coaching session with one of the media trainers.

The workshop will be conducted in cooperation with the Moldovan Broadcasting Council to support implementation of the action plan for the national Strategy for the Consolidation of Interethnic Relations. The Mission supports the Moldovan authorities in advancing policies that make Moldova’s diversity a tangible strength and promote tolerance, which are important preconditions for the Transdniestrian settlement process.
