The USA will supplement the funds offered to Moldova with 8 million dollars, which shall be used for the media coverage of the pro-European cause, said US Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday at a meeting with Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti in Kiev.

In addition, according to a press release of the Moldovan presidential administration, the American official said that Moldovan authorities should take concrete action to strengthen public institutions and fight corruption.

Previously, the US Senator John McCain said that Washington will grant funds to Moldova for the development of independent mass media. “The United States can offer expertise and technology for Moldova to go on. This year, Moldova will make not only a political choice, but also a geopolitical one. We will help Moldova resist pressure, propaganda and the existent security risks. The United States have all the possibilities to contribute, within a short time, to ensuring Moldova’s information security by investing in the development of independent media and by a steady political position from Washington,” John McCain said several weeks earlier at a meeting with Vlad Filat, the president of the Liberal Democrat Party of Moldova.
