Media Azi Show: Why Should Media Outlets Not be Obliged to Register as Personal Data Operators?

Media outlets would need to register as personal data operators in order to have free access to the databases with information on real estate, as well as the companies registered in the Republic of Moldova. This might be the case despite the fact that European states have already abolished such a provision a few years ago. How justified is such a condition that could be imposed on Moldovan journalists?

Una dintre condițiile ca instituțiile de presă să aibă acces gratuit la bazele de date unde pot fi verificate bunurile imobile, precum și firmele înregistrate pe teritoriul Republicii Moldova ar putea fi ca redacțiile să se înregistreze ca operatori de date cu caracter personal. Asta în pofida faptului că statele europene au renunțat la o astfel de prevedere încă acum câțiva ani. Cât de justificată este o asemenea condiție ce ar putea fi impusă jurnaliștilor din R. Moldova?

Mai multe companii din media-holdingul afiliat ex-liderului Partidului Democrat  Vlad Plahotniuc, printre care și Prime TV,  ar figura în raportul Kroll II, potrivit declarațiilor deputatului Blocului ACUM, Alexandru Slusari, făcute vineri, 20 septembrie, în cadrul unui briefing de presă organizat la Parlament. General Media Group (GMG), care adminsitrează PRIME TV, respinge acuzațiile și amenință cu chemarea în judecată a tuturor celor care lansează „atacuri nejustificate” la adresa companiei.

Directorii Moldova 1 și Moldpres, invitați la audieri în cadrul Comisiei care investighează „tentativa de puci anticonstituțional”

Mai multe persoane cu funcții de răspundere au fost audiate, pe 20 septembrie, în cadrul Comisiei de anchetă a Parlamentului, care investighează circumstanțele evenimentelor politice din iunie 2019. Alături de ex-procurorul general Eduard Harunjen, de fostul șef al Inspectoratului General de Poliție Gheorghe Cavcaliuc și alții, la audieri au fost invitați și doi manageri de presă - directoarea Moldova 1 Ecaterina Stratan și directorul general al Agenției informaționale de stat „Moldpres” Andrei Volentir.

Various companies in the media holding affiliated with the former Democratic Party leader Vlad Plahotniuc, including Prime TV, would appear in the Kroll II Report, according to the statement made by MP Alexandru Slusari, ‘ACUM’ Electoral Bloc on Friday, 20 September, during a press briefing organised at the Parliament. General Media Group (GMG), which manages the channel PRIME TV, rejects the accusations and threatens to sue all those who launch ‘unjustified attacks’ against the company.

Премьер-министр Майя Санду поддерживает восстановление «TVR» «незаконно захваченной» частоты национального покрытия

В публикации на «Facebook» премьер-министр Майя Санду заявила, что она поддержит румынское общественное телевидение в получении частоты вещания с национальным покрытием. Премьер-министр уточнила, что в Правительство поступило письмо от «TVR», с просьбой Совету по телевидению и радио (СТР) выделить частоту вещания, позволяющую вести трансляцию на всей территории страны. Недавно, владелец телеканала «Canal 2» объявил, что он отказывается от национальной частоты вещания, и порекомендовал распределить ее вещательной организации TVR.

The Prime Minister Maia Sandu Supports the Recovery of the National Frequency of TVR, Which Was ‘Taken Abusively’

Prime Minister Maia Sandu stated, in a Facebook post, that she would provide support to the Romanian public TV channel in obtaining the national frequency. The Prime Minister said that the Government received a letter from TVR, which requests the Broadcasting Council (BC) to provide the channel with a frequency that would allow to broadcast at national level. Recently, the owner of the TV channel Canal 2 announced the renunciation of the national frequency and recommended to give it to the television broadcaster TVR.

20 сентября Следственная комиссия Парламента, расследующая обстоятельства политических событий июня 2019 года, заслушала ряд должностных лиц. Вместе с бывшим генеральным прокурором Эдуардом Харунженом, бывшим начальником Генерального инспектората полиции Георге Кавкалюк и другими, на слушания были приглашены и два руководителя СМИ – директор «Moldova 1» Екатерина Стратан и генеральный директор Государственного информационного агентства «Moldpres» Андрей Волентир.

On 20 September, various persons in position of accountability were heard by the Inquiry Committee of the Parliament, which investigates the circumstances of the political events that took place in June 2019. The former General Prosecutor, Eduard Harunjen, the former Head of the General Police Inspectorate, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc and others, were invited to the hearings together with two press managers – the Director of Moldova 1 Ecaterina Stratan and the Director General of the State Information Agency ‘Moldpres’ Andrei Volentir.
