Moldova 1 Has a Director – Ecaterina Stratan to Run the Channel for the Next 5 Years

Monday, 28 August, the Supervisory Board of IPNA Company “Teleradio-Moldova” (TRM) selected Ecaterina Stratan as Director of the public television channel Moldova 1.

Three persons competed for the position: Ecaterina Stratan, Moldova 1’s News and Debate Department Manager and, since July, the channel’s acting director; Sergiu Praporscic from Sputnik-Moldova; and George Iosip, former (till April, 2017) employee of General Media Group.

Participants of ”Filtering Information” Summer Camp will Implement Media Literacy Projects

31 students and 9 teachers from ten schools, participants of the ”Filtering Information” Summer Camp that took place within 20–26 August, developed and will implement projects to promote media literacy in their education establishments. Teams from 10 schools will receive small $300 grants from the Independent Journalism Center.

31 учащийся и девять преподавателей из десяти учебных заведений – участники летнего лагеря «Фильтруй информацию», прошедшего в период с 20 по 26 августа – разработали и будут осуществлять проекты для продвижения медиаобразования в своих школах. Команды из десяти школ получат небольшие гранты в размере 300 долларов США от Центра независимой журналистики.

Organizațiile neguvernamentale de media condamnă acțiunile de îngrădire a accesului la informație și restricțiile impuse unor jurnaliști considerați indezirabili de către Președinția Republicii Moldova. Cerem asigurarea nediscriminatorie a accesului reprezentanților mass-media la evenimentele organizate de Președinție și la informația de interes public care trebuie să fie furnizată de această instituție în condițiile legii cu privire la accesul la informație.

Participanții la tabăra de vară ”Filtrează informația” vor implementa proiecte de educație media

31 de elevi și nouă profesori din zece instituții de învățământ, care au participat, în perioada 20-26 august, la tabăra ”Filtrează informația”, au elaborat și vor desfășura proiecte de promovare a educației media pentru școlile lor. Echipe din 10 școli vor beneficia de granturi mici, în valoare de 300 de dolari SUA, oferite de Centrul pentru Jurnalism Independent.

Some media outlets from the left bank of the Dniester have been reporting about dismissals of local journalists who used to work in the media outlets loyal to former separatist leader Yevgeny Shevchuk. According to them, many of those journalists were forced to leave their jobs, and some even to flee to Russia, Ukraine, or some European countries, so as not to be persecuted in Tiraspol. They describe the situations that made them leave on their pages on social networking websites.
