IJC Poll: Over Half of Consumers of Socio-Political News Believe They Can Identify Propaganda in the Media

Sixty percent of consumers of socio-political news in Moldova believe they have the necessary abilities to understand when a material in the media is manipulating and propagandistic, and when not. This number is 9% higher than in January 2016, according to the “People’s Perception of False and Distorted Information in the Media” poll produced by IMAS in the period of September 1-18, 2016 at the request of the Independent Journalism Center.

În aprilie 2016, în stânga Nistrului a fost interzis accesul cameramanilor și fotografilor în sala de ședințe a sovietului suprem din regiune. În septembrie curent, deputații de la Tiraspol au adoptat mai multe legi restrictive ce țin de mass-media, calificate de jurnaliști drept încercare de a introduce cenzura și a limita libertatea de exprimare.

Nicolae Spătaru este noul președinte al Consiliului de Observatori

Membrii Consiliului de Observatori al IPNA „Teleradio – Moldova”  (CO) l-au ales, cu votul a cinci membri din șase, pe Nicolae Spătaru în calitate de președinte al consiliului. Actualul președinte este membru al Uniunii Scriitorilor din Moldova și al Uniunii Scriitorilor din România. În 1993 a fost distins cu Premiul pentru debut al Salonului Internațional de Carte din Chișinău. Nicolae Spătaru a devenit membru al CO în noiembrie 2015.

Nicolae Spataru Is The New Chairman of The Supervisory Board

Members of the Supervisory Board (SB) of “Teleradio-Moldova” Public Broadcasting Company, by vote of five members out of six, elected Nicolae Spataru as chairman of the Board. The current chairman is a member of the Writers’ Union of Moldova and Writers’ Union of Romania. In 1993 he got the Debut Prize at the International Book Fair in Chisinau. Nicolae Spataru became a member of the SB in November 2015.

Open Databases Are More Accessible to Journalists

A group of 20 journalists, civic activists and IT specialists on November 2 and 3 participated in a training course on data journalism, organized in Chisinau by the Independent Journalism Center.

Participants in this activity learned how to identify useful information from national databases, how to efficiently use search engines Google/Hoover, and how to find topics of public interest with the help of open data. They also interacted with various advanced research and mapping tools, which helped them find out about new data visualization possibilities.

Николае Спэтару – новый председатель Наблюдательного совета

Члены Наблюдательного совета (НС) государственной вещательной компании «Телерадио-Молдова» голосами пяти из шести членов избрали Николае Спэтару председателем Совета. Действующий председатель – член Союза писателей Молдовы и Союза писателей Румынии. В 1993 году он получил премию за дебют на Международной книжной ярмарке в Кишиневе. Николае Спэтару стал членом НС в ноябре 2015 года.
