On the first day of the workshop, the over 20 participants analysed, together with the local and international experts, the results of the national report on the “Financial sustainability of the media institutions in Moldova” and the main factors leading to the financial instability of the mass- media in Moldova. They divided into four working groups: national TV and radio, regional TV and radio, print publications and the online group, each group having the mission to identify the internal and external factors that impact on the financial stability of media institutions.
They analysed a number of issues, such as: ownership and partnerships; company resources and staff skills; company resources and the time; company resources and the finances; the technical equipment; the financial targets; the social targets and the ethical standards; the needs and the expectations of the customer / audience and the needs and the expectations concerning the product; the production capacities; the value, the price and the cost of the media product for the customer / audience; the promotion and communication; the location and convenience.
At the end of the workshop, the participants made proposals and recommendations for new data to be included in the national report.
The second part of the workshop will be held on Friday, 9th of December. The participants will jointly develop new business models for all categories of media intended to help the media outlets in setting up new functional models for solving the financial problems they face.
