The Independent Journalism Center Announces the Results of the Local Media Partners Selection Contest

The Independent Journalism Center (IJC) has named the winners of the contest for selection of nine partners from local media within the “Strengthening Independence in Communication Media in Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine” project.

Having evaluated the applications received, the jury chose nine teams that gathered the biggest score based on the following criteria: the team’s professionalism, quality of portfolio, originality of the concepts proposed, and reasonable budget for activities.

IJC Report: Media Manipulation Continues, Although Its Intensity Decreased After Elections

In the post-election period, violation of ethical standards and use of manipulation techniques decreased in intensity compared with 2016. However, they did not totally disappear, and top violation was omission, the technique broadly used by journalists to avoid covering some events or including into news the details that disadvantage the owner of their media outlet or advantage their rivals.

ONG-urile de media condamnă uzul de fals față de „Ziarul de Gardă” și solicită investigarea cazului de către organele de drept

„Ziarul de Gardă” a publicat marți, 21 februarie, o declarație în care afirmă că o pagină web falsă utilizează numele publicației, furând conținut mediatic. „Verificările redacției au confirmat faptul că acest site este într-adevăr o fantomă electronică, care face uz de numele „Ziarul de Gardă” și distribuie informații scrise de autori anonimi sau furate de pe alte pagini web, cauzând prejudicii consumatorilor de presă online”, se menționează în declarație.

Proiectul de lege al Guvernului, supranumit ”Legea Big Brother”, care a alertat opinia publică anul trecut, revine în actualitate. Mai mulți experți, care s-au întrunit zilele trecute la Chișinău într-o conferință organizată de Promo-Lex, au fost de părerea că această inițiativă legislativă ar trebui să fie retrasă din Parlament, pentru că încalcă standardele europene privind libertatea de exprimare și dreptul la viața privată. Media NGOs condemn forgery against “Ziarul de Gardă” and call for investigation of this case by the law enforcement

The newspaper “Ziarul de Gardă” published a statement on Tuesday, February 21, saying that a fake web page is using its name and stealing media content. “The publication’s checks have confirmed that this site is really an online phantom, which makes use of the name “Ziarul de Garda” and distributes information written by anonymous authors or stolen from other websites, causing harm to consumers of online media,” the declaration reads.
Media NGOs qualify identity theft as an illegal act that should be investigated by the law enforcement authorities.
