On Friday, September 30, in Chisinau the Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism gathered its graduates of the past 10 years at a conference titled “Independent Journalism: Today’s Challenges and Tomorrow’s Perspectives.” Participants in the event – SAJ graduates, trainers, guests from abroad – talked about the evolution of journalism in Moldova over the past 10 years and highlighted the main criteria that define independent journalism. The conference was organized with the support of the OSCE Mission to Moldova and the Independent Journalism Center.

The TROLLESS team, who won the second “The Fifth Power” Media Hackathon organized by the Independent Journalism Center and Deutsche Welle Akdemie in July 2016, officially launched on Monday, October 3, a project with the same name, aiming to identify sources of manipulation in the new media and isolate them.

How important election debates are or whether they have become obsolete in the 21st century was the topic discussed in the 20th edition of the “Media Azi” show, with Ivan Sveatcenko as moderator and journalists Ecaterina Kaminskaia and Oleg Brega as guests.

The show protagonists’ conclusion is that debates are necessary: electoral contestants need them to present their points of view, and viewers need them in order to know candidates better, rate their capacities and make the best choice in the voting booth.
