IJC campaign: For order and transparency in mass mediaCitizens have the right to know who owns media outlets, in order to be able to choose information consciously and not be manipulated by anonymous owners, who use the media for their personal interests – it is the message of the new video material launched by the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) to support the campaign aimed at improving the legal framework in terms of media ownership transparency.
The IJC had earlier sent for examination to the Parliament / parliamentary committee for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media a set of proposals to improve draft law no. 240 on modifying and supplementing the Broadcasting Code (adopted by the Parliament in the first reading on 21 July 2014) in terms of ensuring media ownership transparency. The proposals had been developed as a result of consultations and discussions at a round table organized by the IJC.
