In November 2015, the same journalist was assaulted by another protester and even needed medical care.
We condemn such illegalities and remind on this occasion that media NGOs have always disapproved of attempts to intimidate journalists. The media law gives to media representatives the right to obtain and spread information, make audio and video recordings, film and photograph, attend meetings, demonstrations and other public manifestations. Also, the Criminal Code prescribes harsh penalties “for openly taking away another person’s property” and “for intentional obstruction of the work of mass media and journalists.”
We are asking competent legal authorities to take notice of this case in order to clarify it and to inform the public about the actions taken.
