ADVANCED PRINT AND ONLINE TRAINING CHISINAU, MOLDOVA JULY 4-6 2016

On July 4-6 The OPEN Media Hub is organizing advanced training course for reporters from print and online media from Moldova. The three-day news production-orientated course is designed to expand industry relevant skills of the participants from print and online media. Thematically the production will be targeted at topical issues and developments in high impact EU related story areas, matching skills needs to specific stories.
The training will cover the following areas of expertise:
Advanced reporting skills for multi-platform journalism;
Research and preparation of stories;
Advanced writing skills for print and online;
Advancedresearchtools;
Practical work with available advanced online reporting tools;
Audio, video, infographics;
HandlingUserGeneratedContent
Effective social media usage etc.The training will be practically oriented and focused on real-time production of stories ready to be published by the participants’ media outlets and to be shared internationally. Participants will be assisted by the trainer to produce and share at least one multimedia story with a focus on the country’s relations with the EU.
The training will be delivered in Russian.
 
MEET THE TRAINER
Oliver Wates, Independent Media Consultant
Oliver Wates is an independent media consultant with decades of experience in the former Soviet Union. He was an international correspondent with Reuters news agency for 21 years, including three as head of its Moscow bureau, at the time of the break-up of the bloc. Since 1998 he has run training courses in more than 65 countries around the world, including 11 of the 15 former Soviet Republics. He knows Moldova well, having done both media training and journalism training here nine times over the years, including twice in the past six months. He has also worked with Moldovan journalists on behalf of the Thomson Foundation in the European Neighbourhood Journalism Network programme. He trains in Russian and Spanish, as well as English. He has devised and run journalism courses on a series of different subjects, including business, health, environmental and human trafficking.
