Журналисты, свидетели в уголовных делах и делах о правонарушениях «С нашим правосудием порой опасно быть свидетелем»

После публикации в прессе, прокуроры или сотрудники полиции могут привлечь журналистов в качестве свидетелей в уголовных делах или в делах о правонарушениях. Иногда, служители закона и журналисты проводят параллельные расследования, а если журналистам удается раскопать нечто новое, органы права могут вызвать их повесткой. Порой расследования правоохранительных органов возбуждаются в результате вскрытых авторами статей беззаконий. «Media Azi» выявило ряд журналистов, которые были вызваны по повестке в полицию, прокуратуру или в суд в качестве свидетелей.

Media experts who monitored the implementation of the 2017–2019 National Action Plan of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement concluded that, when it comes to media, the paper mainly refers to the development of broadcasting and leaves the print media and online media unattended. Therefore, the Action Plan will be revised to take into account the development of the entire media system.

"House of Press" Will be Transferred into the Subordination of a Government Division. Valeriu Saharneanu: ‘The Draft Decision Shows that the State Hammered the Final Nail in the Coffin of the Free Press’

According to a draft decision developed recently, the ‘House of Press’, the Soviet-era building for the print media of that time, will be transferred into the subordination of General Division for the Administration of Buildings belonging to the Government of the Republic of Moldova. This means that rental rates could also be revised, which worries some representatives of the media outlets, while others, which are financed by the Government, hope to get exempted from paying the rent.

Journalists that are Witnesses in Criminal and Contraventional Cases. ‘With the Justice we Have, it Might be Dangerous Sometimes to Accept to be a Witness’

After publishing a press release, prosecutors or police officers may involve journalists as witnesses in criminal or contraventional cases. Sometimes police and reporters are carrying out parallel investigations and if journalists reveal something new, they may be summoned to come in front of the legal authorities. Alternatively, law enforcement bodies’ investigations can start after the authors of articles have uncovered illegalities. Media Azi has identified several journalists who had been summoned to the Police, Prosecutor’s Office or to court as witnesses.

Так, как вопросы, так и ответы будут опубликованы на соответствующем сайте. Представители Ассоциации полагают, что этот сайт будет полезен не только гражданам, но и журналистам-расследователям, представителям гражданского общества и гражданским активистам.

Vreauinfo.md: a New Platform that Automates Requests for Information of Public Interest

The Association ‘Lawyers for Human Rights’ launched the platform VreauInfo.md on June 29. This platform facilitates requests for information of public interest. Both questions and answers will be published on this site. The Association representatives consider that this site will be useful not only to citizens, but to investigative journalists, civil society representatives and civic activists as well.
They also state that public institutions would be exempted of postal and printing expenses.
