IJC Campaign: A Better Law for Journalists, a Better Informed Citizen!

Mass media need to correctly and objectively inform citizens, and journalists need to have access to any information of public interest – such is the message of a new video launched by the Independent Journalism Center (IJC). The video has been produced in support of the campaign for improvement of the legal framework governing access to information, initiated by the IJC.

СМИ должны правильно и объективно информировать граждан, а у журналистов должен быть доступ к любой информации, представляющей общественный интерес – в этом заключается идея новой видеопродукции Центра независимой журналистики (ЦНЖ). Видеоролик был произведен в поддержку кампании по улучшению законодательства о доступе к информации, инициированной ЦНЖ.

After the OSCE and then the Council of Europe (CoE) issued their opinions on the two draft laws on supplementing and modifying the Broadcasting Code, the civil society wonders what comes next. When will we be able to legally regulate the information space security and what our next steps should be?

The Parliamentary Committee on Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sport, and Mass Media said that public hearings regarding the two draft laws and the recommendations made by international experts will take place next week.

The latest meeting of the Press Club, organized by the Independent Journalism Center in partnership with UNICEF and UN in Moldova on September 15, was focused on the topic of “Inclusive education in Moldova – successes and lessons learned”. The discussion, moderated by journalist Vitalie Calugareanu, was attended by UNICEF Moldova Representative Nune Mangasaryan, Deputy Minister of Education Nadia Cristea, experts Virginia Rusnac and Ludmila Lefter, journalists, civil society representatives, and students.
