JOURNALISTS OF THE YEAR 2013 ANNOUNCED AT THE ANNUAL PRESS CLUB GALA

The Chisinau Press Club, formed by the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) and the Press Freedom Committee, announced its top 10 journalists of 2013 on Tuesday, December 19th.

Mariana Raţă of Ziarul Naţional newspaper;
Iurie Sănduţă of Ziarul de Gardă newspaper;
Marina Bzovaia of SP newspaper (Bălţi);
Alla Ceapai of Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty Moldova;
Anastasia Nani of Adevărul Moldova;
Eugen Solari of Kommersant.md;
Lilia Zaharia special reporter at the Association of Independent Press;
Igor Vrabie of UNIMEDIA;
Sorina Obreja of PRO TV;
Cristina Bruma of Evenimentul  Zilei newspaper.

The following special prizes were also awarded at the Gala:

Award for promoting the freedom of expression: newspaper «Человек и его права», editor-in-chief Nicolai Buceatchi.
Hope of the year: Ina Landa of Expresul newspaper,  Alla Ceapai of Radio Free Europe Moldova
Award for integrity of debate: Politica TV program
Award for coverage of transnistrian themes: Oxana Greadcenco, webportal Moldova.org.

The top 10 journalists of the year were established on the basis of a contest of journalistic materials launched by the IJC on 17 September 2013 and on civil society nominations. The submitted files were analyzed by the IJC senate, which decided the winners.

The XIX edition of the Annual Gala of the Press Club was held with the financial support of the organization Free Press Unlimited (Netherlands) and of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
