The Association of Independent Press (AIP) and the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) are holding the national contest of articles/reports and programs on the topic of human rights in Moldova, with a focus on realization of commitments assumed by authorities within the international exercise – Universal Periodic Review (UPR). The contest is aimed at journalists from all national and local/regional media outlets in Moldova: radio stations, TV channels, newspapers, information websites/portals.

What is UPR?

UPR is a mechanism created within the UN Human Rights Council ten years ago, through which public policies on human rights in countries around the globe are evaluated. The goal of the UPR is to help eliminate all forms of discrimination and to make the authorities of the UN Member States fulfill the human rights commitments they assumed before other countries. At the XIX session of the UN Human Rights Council (2012), Moldova was for the first time included into this international exercise. In the autumn of 2016, Moldovan authorities will report to the UN about the human rights situation in our country and about how the 122 commitments in this area have been realized in four years. Further information is available here.

Contest conditions
