The Independent Journalism Center Announces the Results of the Local Media Partners Selection Contest

The Independent Journalism Center (IJC) has named the winners of the contest for selection of nine partners from local media within the “Strengthening Independence in Communication Media in Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine” project.

Having evaluated the applications received, the jury chose nine teams that gathered the biggest score based on the following criteria: the team’s professionalism, quality of portfolio, originality of the concepts proposed, and reasonable budget for activities.
The winners of the contest are:

2. Observatorul de Nord, Soroca
3. Bas TV, Basarabeasca
4. Impuls TV, Șoldănești
5. Cuvântul, Rezina
6. Albasat TV, Nisporeni
7. Media TV, Cimișlia
8. Gazeta de Sud, Cimişlia, Cahul
9. Dnestr TV, Tiraspol 

Members of the jury were Sorina Stefarta, Director of the School of Advanced Journalism; Petru Macovei, Executive Director, Association of Independent Press (AIP); Diana Raileanu, journalist, Radio Free Europe; Dumitru Lazur, journalist, RISE Moldova; Angela Sirbu, Project Director, Internews. Overall, 12 applications were filed for the contest.

The nine media partners will be involved in a series of activities: trainings on topics of media business and marketing, held by international experts; research visits of experts to partner media outlets; mentoring sessions on sales, marketing and promotion potential of their media products.

Local partners will also benefit from seven multimedia packages titled “Moldova Plus”, which they will use to vary their content. Partners will adapt the multimedia packages to the interests of the communities they work in. The period of production/adaptation of a multimedia package will be no longer than 1 month, beginning in April 2017.
