Prime Minister Pavel Filip invited Western business people to invest in the Moldovan media. This, according to the Prime Minister, is necessary in order to develop the media sector and help it become a real fourth estate. At the same time, this March the Parliament adopted a draft law on modifying the current Broadcasting Code. As a result, Moldovan televisions will have to increase the share of domestic product in prime time, and the Broadcasting Coordinating Council will choose a company that will measure the audience of TV channels.
How necessary are foreign investments in our media? Are economic conditions favorable for such investments? Is there any profit from the media in Moldova? How timely and necessary are the new amendments to the Broadcasting Code? These topics are discussed in the “Media Azi” show by journalist Nicolae Negru, acting as moderator, and his guest, Dumitru Tira, general director of the “Realitatea” Media Group.
