The Press Council has recently appealed to media outlets to show professionalism in the coverage of cases of violence. This appeal was issued after several portals and televisions broadcast images of a minor girl abused by several young people.

Why do media outlets disseminate such materials and what are the main ethical issues in such situations? This topic was discussed by Olga Manole, member of the Press Council, and Cristian Jardan, director of Unimedia portal, as guests of the 61st edition of the “Media Azi” [Media Today] show, hosted by journalist Anastasia Nani.

Participants analyzed, based on examples and on their own experience, how cases of violence are covered and what journalists should do when their media outlet receives materials with such content.

Also, you will hear how the public should be educated to consume quality information.
