Following the evaluation of applications according to selection criteria, the jury chose these winners:
NGO “Positive Initiative” (project: “Contributing to Social Inclusion, Accountability of Officials, and Drawing Public Attention to Violations of the Rights and Freedoms of Vulnerable Citizens”)
Youth news website #diez (project: “#diez goes on app”)
Public association “Ca Lumea” (project: “Online Show ‘Internet Speaking’”)
Moldova.org portal (project: “Combating Fake News and Statements by Fact Checking and Developing Interactive Video Content”)
Periodical publication SP, Balti city (project: “Extending Channels for Dissemination of Content and Interaction with eSP.md Audience Through Messengers”)
Periodical publication Observatorul de Nord, Soroca city (project: “Media Education for Democracy”)
Overall, 55 applications were submitted for the contest, and project evaluation criteria included: creative combination of actors/use of new technologies; well-formulated implementation plan; practical financial offer with concrete deadlines for each part; proper target audience; post-funding promotion and sustainability plan.
The jury consisted of: Petru Macovei, Executive Director of Association of Independent Press; Diana Raileanu, journalist of Radio Free Europe; Dumitru Lazur, media expert; Dona Scola, co-founder of Generator Hub.
The beneficiaries of Emerging Opportunities Grants will realize their projects over the next six months, until March 31, 2018. To strengthen the innovation element of projects, a mentor will be engaged to advise beneficiaries during the development of products.
