The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the world’s largest public broadcaster, announced about its intention to cut 65 jobs in its radio division in a process of reorganisation aimed at reducing financial expenses related to the company’s activity, InCont.ro informs with reference to bbc.com.

The strategy of reducing BBC expenses with GBP 800 million involves discharging about 15% of BBC Radio employees by 2017. The reorganisation of  BBC began in 2012.

In the process, BBC Radio will be reorganised into two subdivisions. The first subdivision will include Radio 4, 4 Extra, Radio 3 and BBC Proms, and the second subdivision – Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, Asian Network and 6 Music.

The company’s administration also intends to have more collaboration between BBC radios, which have separate management, thus improving the managerial and organisational activity of the entire company.

Decision on reorganisation of BBC Radio involves savings of about GBP 38 million by 2016/17.
