Reporter Anthony Loyd and photographer Jack Hill of The Times were attacked by a gang of Syrian rebels. The journalists finally managed to escape from attackers after being kidnapped, beaten and shot at, ziare.com writes with reference to The Guardian.
Western journalists, together with their guide, were returning to Turkey from northern Syria when they were apprehended by a gang of Syrian rebels. When the journalists attempted to escape, they were severely beaten, and Loyd was also shot several times in his leg to stop him running away. They were freed after the Islamic Front, which fights against Syrian extremists, heard about this situation and convinced kidnappers to release journalists.
The three men were finally freed. On arrival to Turkey, Anthony Loyd was hospitalized for medical care.
