Mariana Hadarca-Onceanu, member of the Coordinating Council for Broadcasting, told Media Azi that the broadcasting regulatory body had to act as provided by law. According to her, the new management of the company had sent a letter to the management of the Coordinating Council for Broadcasting, requesting the extension of the license, but it was not considered, as it was not accompanied by the set of documents required for discussing the extending of the license.
The contenders interested in getting the license will need to meet the general requirements set by law. Priority will be given to the projects that will envisage broadcasting of programs of public interest, targeting the population of Gagauzia.
The applications need to be submitted within 30 days since the publication of the decision of the Coordinating Council for Broadcasting in the Official Gazette. Public broadcaster Teleradio-Gagauzia is entitled to continue broadcasting under the expired license until the tender is completed.
