The Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC) unanimously approved on Tuesday, September 29, the draft declaration on ensuring broadcasters’ ownership transparency. Thus, the administrators of televisions and radios will have the obligation to publish on their websites the names of beneficiary owners and data about their participation in the share capital.
The publication of these declarations is part of the obligation to ensure broadcasters’ ownership transparency, according to the new modifications of the Broadcasting Code provided by the law on media ownership transparency, which is to enter into force on November 1, 2015.
Within 10 days after the law enters into force, private broadcasters will have to publish on their websites a list with the names of beneficiary owners and data about their participation in the share capital, the list of their board members and the name of the administrator, as well as names of producers. In addition, private broadcasters will have to publish the description of their ownership structure, organizational structure and capital, as well as sources of funding for their program services.
This information will be subsequently, within 15 calendar days, published on the BCC’s website.
