The deadline for submission of personal files was October 3, 2016. In not more than 15 days from that day, the BCC is to hold public hearings of candidates and choose 6 of them who are to be recommended to the Moldovan parliament for confirmation. Under the Broadcasting Code, the BCC proposes to the parliament 2 candidates for each vacancy, out of whom future members of the SB are then selected.
We should mention that some of the current candidates (Alexandru Grosu, Alexandru Popovici) have already participated in such contests, and Larisa Calugaru, whose membership in the SB expires this October, has applied for a new term.
