The Parliamentary Commission on Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sport and the Media named on Wednesday, April 12, Alexandru Vasilachi and Veaceslav Vlad as potential new members of the Supervisory Board (SB) of the “Teleradio-Moldova” public broadcaster. For the two to become members of the SB, they must be also approved by the Commission on Legal Issues, Appointments and Immunities, and then to be voted in the plenum of the Parliament.

It should be mentioned that in October 2016 the terms in office of three members of the SB expired. Also in October 2016, the Broadcasting Coordinating Council presented to the Parliamentary Commission on the Media six candidates, two for each of the three vacancies: I. Larisa Calugaru and Marcel Dragan; II. Veaceslav Vlad and Dumitru Crudu; III. Alexandru Vasilachi and Stefan Secareanu.

At the meeting on Wednesday, April 12, the commission chose only two candidates for the three positions in the SB, as the third did not obtain the required number of votes. In this case, the BCC will have to start a new contest to select other two persons who will compete for the third vacancy in the SB.

Please note, that the six candidates waited for more than six months to be heard by the specialized parliamentary commission.
