According to the press release published on the institution website, on Tuesday, July 4, the Supervisory Board (SB) of the National Public Broadcaster Company "Teleradio-Moldova" (TRM) approved at its meeting the resignation request filed by Mircea Surdu, the director of the public television station Moldova 1.
The decision was taken by unanimous vote of the members of the Supervisory Board. At the same meeting, Ecaterina Stratan, head of the news and debates department at Moldova 1, was elected acting director. Five members of the SB voted for her candidacy.

Last week, Mircea Surdu, the director of Moldova 1 announced his resignation on a social network providing no motivation for his decision. His five-year term would have expired at the end of 2017.
SB has to announce a new competition to fill the position of the director of the public television station, Moldova 1.
