The “Divided by Two” [Romanian “Împărțit la doi”] shows are recommended to be aired free of charge by Moldovan televisions. This decision was made by the Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC) at its meeting of April 27. Thus, the BCC supported the undertaking of the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) and urged the televisions that fall under the jurisdiction of Moldova to air free of charge IJC’s shows produced as part of the “Media for Gender Balance” campaign in order to promote positive models of involvement of women and men and to fight gender stereotypes through the media.

During the “Media for Gender Balance” campaign, 20 shows on various gender issues will be produced, coming up with a specific approach to the involvement of women and men. The programs will be released between April 2017 and February 2018 and they will be posted on the web portal moldova-azi.md.

At the same meeting, the BCC also recommended televisions to air Realitatea TV’s series of documentary films “Bridges to Europe” [Romanian “Punți către Europa”] free of charge.

The “Media for Gender Balance” campaign is implemented by the Independent Journalism Center with the financial support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency through the Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau.
