The 2018 Media Forum will take place on 29 and 30 November, in Chişinău. Journalists, editors, media managers and other staff of Moldovan newsrooms, representatives of media organizations and associations, publicity agencies, the academia related to journalist professional training, and local and foreign experts are invited to this event.

The Forum is organized by the Press Council of Moldova, in partnership with the Association of Independent Press (API), Independent Journalism Center (IJC) and Electronic Press Association (APEL). The organizers will select up to 150 participants in the 2018 Media Forum, based on their mandatory prior registration.

The Forum’s first day will include several discussion panels about the condition of the journalist in the Republic of Moldova, the quality of the product offered to the public, access to information and transparency of public institutions, and the work of the Working Group for improving the media legislation. On the same day, a number of workshops and master classes will be held by foreign experts. Renowned experts and journalists from Lithuania, Ukraine, Romania, Estonia and Russia have confirmed their participation in the Forum.

A journalist prize awarding festivity will take place at the end of the Forum’s first day, as part of two national contests: “2018 Investigative Reporting” and “Click for Gender Equality.”
A number of other workshops is planned for the Forum’s second day, including a presentation of digital tools useful to journalists, to be held by a Google News Lab trainer; a workshop on the actions to be taken to implement the National Media Development Concept; and a workshop on the situation of local and regional media outlets.

Based on the panel and topical workshop discussions, the Resolution of the 2018 Media Forum will be developed and proposed for adoption. It will then be transmitted to the national authorities, foreign representative offices and embassies, and European and international experts who monitor the democratic development of the Republic of Moldova.

The working language of the Forum will be Romanian, with simultaneous translation to Russian and English of the opening session. Some of the workshops will be held in Russian or English, and translation will be provided.

The official webpage of the 2018 Media Forum is www.mediaforum.md/event/2018, which will post and update the Forum’s agenda, list of speakers and experts, and other relevant information.

The mandatory prior registration is open on this webpage on 25 October 2018 and will last until 19 November 2018 inclusively.
