A Former Chair and Two Employees of BCC Were Selected by the Parliamentary Committee for Mass-media for the Three Vacant Positions in the Council

The former chair of the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) and the current democrat MP Corneliu Mihalache, the deputy head of BCC’s General Division for Licensing, Authorization, and Monitoring, Lidia Viziru, and the head of BCC’s Legal and Regulation Department, Iulian Rosca, are the candidates the Parliamentary Committee for Mass-media selected on 5 December to fill the vacant positions in the Council. The candidatures are also be confirmed by the Legal Committee for Appointments and Immunities, and their appointment will be approved by the plenary of the Parliament.

Thus, if they get the majority of votes, Mihalache, Viziru and Rosca could take the place of BCC members Iurie Colesnic, Cristina Duca and Olga Barbalata, whose terms expired in November this year.
The contest admitted ten participants: Lidia Viziru, Iulian Rosca, Vitalie Bujnita, Nicolae Spataru, Nicolae Fabian, Viorel Molea, Marcel Marin, Corneliu Mihalache, Victoria Son and Leonid Smolnitchi.

In a post on social networks, Petru Macovei, the executive director of the Association of Independent Press (API), does not exclude the fact that the former member and chair of BCC during the communist government, Corneliu Mihalache, could become the future chair of BCC.
Note that members of the Broadcasting Coordination Council are appointed by Parliament for a six-year term.
