According to the broadcasters’ management, the vacation was needed after one year of activity without technical breaks.
Vocea Media, founder of Vocea Basarabiei radio and TV stations, stated that these stations wouldn’t stop their activity, that the broadcasting grid would be improved and that the production would continue.
Previously, Agora.md and TV8.MD announced, referring to their information sources, that Vocea Basarabiei TV station was closing and the employees would have been told that the institution would no longer be active.
Lia Gutu, BC Press Officer, told Media-azi.md that the regulator wasn’t informed about possible changes in the activity of these two audiovisual media services.

Vocea Media company, founded by Dorel Balan, owns the broadcasting license for Vocea Basarabiei radio station. Previously, Anticoruptie.md portal wrote that in 2017 Vocea Media SRL took license of Vocea Basarabiei TV channel and radio station with the similar name through the assignment from Canal X, founded by the manager of Caravita – a company mentioned in corruption cases regarding bank frauds. The company which took the licenses was created only two weeks before the submission of assignment request to the Council.
In April 2018, Media-azi.md wrote that Canal 2 TV channel, which formerly belonged to the PD Chair Vladimir Plahotniuc, and currently belongs to his political advisor Oleg Cristal, had opened a local studio in the Nisporeni town, and that its editorial board shared its office with two other TV channels and radio stations – Radio Noroc, Radio Vocea Basarabiei, Noroc TV and Vocea Basarabiei TV.
