The Name of the Media Holding of Plahotniuc Would Appear in the KROLL II Report as Beneficiary of the Theft of the Billion. GMG Rejects the Accusations.

Various companies in the media holding affiliated with the former Democratic Party leader Vlad Plahotniuc, including Prime TV, would appear in the Kroll II Report, according to the statement made by MP Alexandru Slusari, ‘ACUM’ Electoral Bloc on Friday, 20 September, during a press briefing organised at the Parliament. General Media Group (GMG), which manages the channel PRIME TV, rejects the accusations and threatens to sue all those who launch ‘unjustified attacks’ against the company.
 

The Head of the Inquiry Committee of the Parliament for elucidating all circumstances of the embezzlement of Moldova’s banking system and investigation of the bank fraud, the MP Alexandru Slusari, ACUM Electoral Bloc, stated during a press briefing held by the Parliament, that all the members of the Committee received the Kroll II Report from the National Bank (NBM) on Friday, 20 September. 

‘Prime Management, OTIV Prime, Prime TV and Gemenii are some of the companies owned by Plahotniuc and are mentioned in Kroll II Report’, stated Alexandru Slusari.

Slusari added that among the beneficiaries there were mentioned the former owner of TV7 TV, Chiril Lucinschi, as well as the Director of ‘Sputnik Moldova’ News Agency, Vladimir Novosadiuc. We remind that Novosadiuc was recently heard by prosecutors and is accused of fraud and involvement in the theft of the billion through the structures of politician Ilan Sor. According to the latest information that appeared in the media, Vladimir Novosadiuc resigned.

In a press release, the General Media Group (GMG), which belongs to OTIV PRIME MEDIA B.V., claims that the TV channels Prime TV and Publika TV ‘have no direct or indirect connection with the companies mentioned by the MP, Alexandru Slusari’.

The press release of GMG states that all the operations performed by the company are transparent and their association with the stolen money is part of a misinformation campaign. ‘We would like to specify that we will reserve the legal right to sue all those who launch such unfounded accusations, unjustified attacks and denigration actions against our TV channels and our journalists. Also, we will ask directly those who we will bring to the court to pay all the financial damages that will be calculated as a result of the image damage caused’, stated the press release.

Note that the leader of ‘Partidul Nostru’, Renato Usatii, previously published on social media the part 2 of the Kroll Report, which also include a list of companies that would have benefited from the stolen billion. The companies affiliated or belonging to the former Chair of the Democratic Party, Vladimir Plahotniuc were on this list.
