IJC agenda for June

Video production, training for journalists, media situation monitoring - these are just a few activities listed in the calendar of the Independent Journalist Center for June.

In June, five teams of journalists will finish working on joint journalistic materials. The stories cover various discrimination related issues. 

Also in June, IJC will present a series of video products about women who managed to assert and become successful in various areas of activity. 

On 16 June, Slovak Atlantic Commission, in partnership with IJC, will present the results of the second stage in the survey "What do Moldovans think?” revealing Moldova's political course either towards EU or Eurasian Customs Union.

As well in June, a training for journalists - 'Legal Leaks' will be organized by media organizations N-ost from Germany, German Foundation Konrad-Adenauer, Access Info Europe, and IJC will be the local partner. Participants will learn how to make better use of the right to access to information, what are the ways of submitting requests for information and what techniques to apply in order to protect data security and confidential information sources.

The team of Media-Azi and Research Department will continue monitoring media activity on issues related to freedom of expression, access to information, fairness of coverage in terms of observance of journalistic norms and media legislation in force.

In this respect, there will be prepared articles, interviews and columns on topical specialized issues that will provide an overview of the national press, challenges the broadcasters face, but also media consumers' feedback on media products in Republic of Moldova.

IJC will also launch the Mediacritica column on Media Azi portal that is intended for media consumers and journalists. There you will find various analyzes on the way media covers public interest issues.

The Advocacy and Production Department (APD) will produce ten video spots for Keystone Moldova about persons with disabilities and their integration into the society. These video clips will be aired on three TV channels.

APD will also produce a video spot for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, providing clearer explanations on the benefits of signing the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. 

The Policies and Media Law Department will organize a training for journalists under the project "Improving the Media Law Environment in Moldova”, where journalists will be trained on national media law and the way journalists should write so that to avoid being blamed of defamation. The training will especially focus on journalists' access to information, how journalists should edit the request for information, where they must submit it to and in what way the received information may be employed in their articles and reports.

This Department will continue monitoring media situation in Moldova, legal initiatives and amendments in this field. As well, free legal assistance to media outlets and journalists will be further provided.

In June, SAJ students will finish their internships at media outlets in Chişinău. For four weeks they have been 'stealing' the craft from reporters and editors at TV channels, radio stations, newspapers and online platforms. The study years 2013-2014 will finish at the end of the month with the ceremony of awarding graduation certificates. The event will bring together students, trainers, press managers and potential employers.

As well, in June will take place the second stage of admission campaign for study year 2014- 2015. Detailed information on admission conditions is available on  www.scoaladejurnalism.md.
