The 3 winning teams of the hackathon Puterea a Cincea (The Fifth Estate) have been awarded

On July 19 the first hackathon of citizen journalism in Moldova, Puterea a Cincea (the Fifth Estate) ended. It  was organized by the Independent Journalism Center and Internews.
The winning teams:
Inițiativa – a platform on which the users can express their opinions on draft laws, government decisions and can propose initiatives on locals and national levels.
Official Alert- an application that will allow users to receive notifications when the content of web pages of official institutions: ministries, agencies etc, is updated.
Televisor -  an application through which simple citizens that send and visualize journalistic content simultaneously with other media institutions.
The jury members were: Alina Radu, director of Ziarul de Gardă newspaper, Adriana Moșnoi, project manager at the digital agency FFW, Dumitru Ciorici, editorial director of Agora.md, Anton Perkin, president of the Association of IT Specialists in Moldova and Alexey Sidorenko, director of Teplitsa of Social Technologies (te-st.ru). They voted each project based on the following criteria: utility, feasibility, innovation degree and progress reached by the team during the hackathon.

The hackathon aimed to improve the interaction between press and the public, with help of mobile and web applications and other innovative IT instruments. The 3 winning teams will benefit from three grants of 3000$ each for developing their projects, offered by the organizers, as well as gift certificates of 80 € for each memebr, offered by Generator Hub and vouchers of consultance in digital marketing, of 500 € for each team, offered by the digital agency Granat.
At the hackathon, various experts and guest speakers held presentations and master-classes on topics such as: citizen journalism, social media as promotion tool, investigative journalism, data checking, new tools for journalists: sensors, drones, wearables, the internet of things etc. The invited experts and mentors at the hackathon have been: Victoria Vlad, researcher at Expert-Grup, Iurie Sanduta, director of Rise Moldova, Artur Gurau, founder of digital agency Granat, Serghei Mereuta, IT consultant, Vitalii Moroz (Ukraine), head of New Media Department, Internews, Ukraine, Alexey Sidorenko (Russia), director of Teplitsa of Social Technologies, Oleg Gant (Russia), editor of te-st.ru portal,  Pavel Zingan, director of zingan.com, Ruxanda Iarincovschi, web developer, Yopeso, Natalia Buruiana, web designer, Yopeso, Daniela Montecore, founder madein.md
 
16 ideas and over 60 participants have been registered in the hackathon, from various fields: IT, journalism, entrepreneurship, communication, library, civil society etc. In the final competition participated 1 projects. The list of participants and registered ideas is available here
