The signatories remind the decision makers that limiting media access to the plenary sittings of Parliament, as well as confining the journalists accredited to Parliament to a room lacking adequate working conditions infringe on the freedom of expression and the right to work, as well as conflict with the principle of transparency in decision making.
It should be noted that during 2014 the Independent Journalism Center, in partnership with several media organizations, expressed concern about the working conditions of journalists accredited to Parliament, taking attitude through public statements and actions aimed at addressing the issue. To this end, a similar petition was signed earlier; the lawmakers did not respond to it.
The IJC's campaign "We Want Access to Parliament!" may be supported by signing the petition online.
