IJC Agenda for December

On December 19, the IJC and the Press Freedom Committee are organizing the 19th “10 Best Journalists of the Year” Awards Gala. In December, the internship program for Transnistrian journalists will continue as part of the project “Promoting the Rights of Minorities and Marginalized Groups in Transnistria and Gagauzia through Mass Media”.

The team of the Advocacy and Production Department will finalize the projects it started earlier, such as the videos for the Human Rights Awards Gala organized by the UNDP and for the “10 Best Journalists of the Year” Awards Gala; the anti-manipulation video spot for the Association of Independent Press; and two short documentaries about inclusive pre-school education, requested by the Public Association “Woman and Child – Protection and Support” of Criuleni town.

By the end of this year, the Media-azi and Research Department will finish preparations for two other studies on freedom and viability of local press. Also in December, work will be conducted on the next edition of the biannual analytical magazine Mass Media in Moldova, which will include a number of articles, interviews and studies on specialized topics, such as TV journalism or new media.

The Media Law and Policy Department will continue monitoring the situation of mass media in Moldova and the legislative initiatives and modifications in the field. It will also continue providing free legal assistance to mass media outlets and journalists.

The study course on TV journalism in the newsroom format at the School of Advanced Journalism will end in December. The students, guided by trainers, will produce materials for an improvised newscast. Then, for two weeks, they will be assimilating the skills necessary for practicing online journalism. The course on online journalism will enable participants to apply the knowledge obtained within a number of online projects of the SAJ. The meetings of the School’s discussion club will continue on Tuesdays. Representatives of international organizations, politicians, NGOs, press managers, and experts in various fields will have informal discussions with students on various current topics.
