The authors of the petition remind MPs that the adoption of this draft law is expected by journalists, because the modifications it stipulates will facilitate and improve the registration of requests for access to information, allow reducing the term of provision of information and set harsher punishments for violations of the legislation on access to information by people responsible for its provision.
We shall note that suggestions regarding the draft law on modifying and supplementing Law no. 982-XIV of May 11, 2000 on access to information were developed by IJC experts within the IJC’s advocacy campaign for modifying the law on access to information.
The petition was signed in the period of July 6 – October 18 by 116 persons and it can be viewed here.
