The Independent Journalism Center (IJC) organized during February-October 2014 an internship program for five journalists from ATU Gagauz-Yeri, in print media, radio and TV stations from Chisinau.

Five journalists: Elena Mocanu, Oxana Posmac, Ina Gordeeva, Ala Chiosea and Irina Pineghina have participated in a one week internship program in the Panorama, Moldavskie Vedomosti editorial offices, Publika TV channel and the public broadcaster Radio Moldova. Working in these institutions, the interns have learned more about journalistic principles: objectivity, transparency, balance and pluralism of sources; have conducted practical activities and learned more from the work experience of journalists from Chisinau. Both the journalists-interns, and the hosting media institutions consider this experience as being useful, from which they have learned a lot and which contributed to strengthening the collaboration between journalists from different localities of the Republic of Moldova.

Ala Chiosea, who had her internship at Radio Moldova, stated: "This experience gave me the opportunity to observe and analyze a different style of preparing radio materials, voice recording, text editing, and selection of events which can be covered".

Irina Pineghina, Moldavskie Vedomosti intern, emphasized that the five days in the editorial office helped improving her writing skills and better understand the political, social and economic context of the country in order to write complex materials and to show to the public all aspects of a problem.

The IJC specifies that between November 2013-October 2014, 11 journalists from Tiraspol, Bender, Comrat and Ceadar-Lunga participated in an internship program, being hosted by six Chisinau media institutions.

The internship program was organized in the framework of the project “Promoting the Rights of Minorities and Marginalized Groups from Transnistrian and Gagauzian Regions through the Media”, implemented by the Independent Journalism Center in partnership with and the support of Civil Rights Defenders (Sweden).
