The Independent Journalism Center (IJC) continues media literacy activities for media consumers within a new project launched in March.
Students from several schools and lyceums around the country will have the opportunity to participate in a new cycle of media lessons in order to find out how mass media work, what the role of the press is, what rules should be followed when writing a news story, etc. Lessons will be moderated by media professionals and their goal will be to cultivate critical thinking, so that media consumers can identify signs of manipulation and disinformation in the media.
Also, the IJC will update the “Media in Sight” section of www.media-azi.md, which will inform about violations of deontological rules in journalistic materials.
Within this project the IJC will also organize a training program for young journalists, focused on ethical and professional approach to topics of public interest in the media.
The IJC has been the first media organization to initiate media literacy projects in Moldova.

The “Promoting media literacy and ethical standards in the press for informed citizens” project is being implemented by the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) in the period of March-September 2016 with the financial support of Civil Rights Defenders (Sweden), partner of the IJC.
