Beginning in September, the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) has launched a new project designed to contribute to promoting and strengthening the image of women in society by means of media.

The project includes training and advocacy activities. Participating journalists will be taught and encouraged to avoid stereotypes in materials on women. The IJC will also collaborate with the journalism departments of Moldovan universities, providing training to professors, who will subsequently develop a study program focused on a balanced approach to gender issues.

The IJC will also produce short videos on the women who produced positive changes in various fields of activity. Videos will be broadcast by televisions throughout the country and distributed by means of social networks.

Moreover, as part of this project, the IJC will create a database, available online, containing contact information of women-experts in certain fields of activity.

The project “Changing the Perception on Women in Society through Mass Media” is being implemented by the IJC between September 2013 and September 2014 with the financial support of the Netherlands Embassy, through MATRA Program.
