Ukraine prohibited entry into the country to 35 journalists and directors of Russian televisions that misinform and manipulate public opinion regarding the events in Ukraine, said Yuri Artemenko, head of the National Council for Radio and Television of Ukraine at a press conference, according to ukrinform.ua.

The official refused to name the Russian journalists whose access to Ukraine has been forbidden, mentioning that it is in the competence of the Security Service.

We shall remind that two weeks ago the National Council for Radio and Television of Ukraine sent to the Ukrainian Security Service a list with 49 names of journalists and directors of Russian televisions that might be subjected to interdictions.

According to the same source, Ukrainian justice authorities have recently prohibited the broadcasting of 15 Russian televisions in Ukraine: Pervy Kanal, Rossiya 24, Russia Today, RBK-TV and Life News, RTR Planeta, NTV Mir, TVCI, Rossiya 1, Istoria, Petersburg 5, Ren TV, Zvezda, TNT, and NTV, the private channel supportive of the Kremlin.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs accuses Kiev of attempts to limit freedom of expression. “The Russian side strongly condemns these openly discriminatory measures and expects that the international community and specialized organizations give an assessment of the decisions of Ukrainian security forces, which are committing violations of human rights, including the right to freedom of expression,” says a press release that appeared today on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
