Dozens of journalists in Chisinau expressed solidarity with the victims of the attack on the office of the Parisian satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Journalists brought flowers and lit candles in front of the Embassy of France in Moldova.

One of the participants in this action, journalist Vasile Nastase, said in this context: “We must unite and understand that there is nothing more sacred than freedom of expression. These values must strengthen us, make us more united and strong and encourage us to promote truth and democracy.”

On Wednesday, 7 January 2015, an armed attack took place in the center of Paris on the office of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. The attack resulted in 12 dead, including the director and three cartoonists of the publication. The reason of the massacre is supposedly a cartoon depicting the Muslim prophet that had appeared in the newspaper.

French law enforcement identified three suspects. One of them is a homeless person, who surrendered himself to the police after finding out from social networks that he was wanted for having helped attackers with transport.

According to the British Telegraph, a witness of the attack said that the two men that are believed to be the culprits for this crime had told him that they were from al-Qaeda in Yemen.

According to the French media, both suspects were seen by the manager of a gas station in northern France.
