On Friday, the regional newspaper Expresul celebrated six years since its release. On this occasion, the newspaper launched a new version of its site www.expresul.com.

Initially, the newspaper was called “Expresul de Ungheni” and designed as a local newspaper. Subsequently, the editorial team decided to expand and removed the word “Ungheni”. Thus, the newspaper began to appear in Nisporeni and Calarasi as well.

Lucia Bacalu, the director of the newspaper, said the success of becoming a regional newspaper has exceeded all expectations and goals initially set by the team. “When we started, we couldn’t even dream of extending and reaching Calarasi and Nisporeni. Today we are really proud to be a regional newspaper. We have also learnt to think a little differently and see events in a different way. We consider this our most important achievement”, Lucia Bacalu told Media Azi.

On the newspaper's website one can find not only the editorial team's achievements, but also the challenges it faces. “Chronic lack of space in the newspaper - eight pages is too few for a regional newspaper. However, due to lack of money, we cannot afford to print a larger number of pages for right now,” Expresul's team wrote.

The newspaper’s team received 12 awards from the Independent Journalism Center and the Press Freedom Committee of Moldova, as well as the Independent Press Association. Expresul has a circulation of 2,350 copies and is a member of the Independent Press Association.
