Accent TV channel has been excluded from the offer of the Moldtelecom company on 31 December 2013 at 23.59, wrote Hotnews.md, quoting the Omega news agency.

Anna Iurcenco, the advertising director of Moldtelecom, told Media Azi that the collaboration agreement between the television outlet Accent TV and Moldtelecom had not been prolonged. She did not mention whether the parties kept to the terms of the agreement.

Also, BCC chairman Marian Pocaznoi said for Hotnews.md that in this case legislation was not violated, because service providers are entitled to choose the television channels they decide to offer to subscribers.

On the other hand, Accent TV director Roman Malinovski said that on the night of 31 December the outlet’s representatives could not reach anyone at Moldtelecom, and the following day the technical personnel of the state-owned company said that Accent TV signal was missing. Malinovski claims, however, that the Accent TV signal can be transmitted in two ways.

At the same time, Malinovski said that he had received no prior notification from Moldtelecom, while the Moldtelecom press service representatives said by phone that they had sent a letter for this purpose. Malinovski declared that he would address the OSCE Mission to Moldova, the EU Delegation and the BCC with the request to solve this problem related to the outlet’s operation.

Earlier, at the last meeting in 2013, the BCC issued a public warning to Accent TV for failure to respect balance and social and political pluralism. It came after examination of the report on the monitoring of newscasts for observance of equidistance and objectivity. Some BCC members specified that, according to the monitoring report, the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) was covered by this outlet mostly in a positive light.
