The protesters’ main demand was voiced by their leaders – Igor Dodon (PSRM), Renato Usatii (PN) and Vasile Nastase (DA) – in a discussion with Mircea Surdu, director of Moldova 1 television. Igor Dodon said that the protesters’ request is that every night “we have an hour to speak out.” Vasile Nastase, representing the DA platform, said they wanted protests to be spoken about “ by those from the Great National Assembly Square, and not by those in offices,” while Renato Usatii accused Moldova 1 of recently not inviting him to the channels’ programs.
Mircea Surdu promised to discuss this issue with the company’s administration board. He also proposed to protesters’ representatives to participate in a live broadcast, and they accepted the offer. During the broadcast, they reiterated their demands, saying that they keep pleading for early elections, and appealed to viewers to come to their protests.
We shall mention that on Thursday, January 21, protesters picketed at the offices of “Moldtelecom” national telecommunications operator in connection with suspended broadcasting of Jurnal TV and other channels that provided live coverage of the events at the parliament building.
