The Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC) Chairman Dragos Vicol postponed the meeting of Friday, October 20, for lack of quorum. The agenda contained several issues, including the request for transfer of the broadcast license for the TV8 station from the company Analitic Media Grup to public association Media Alternativa.

Today’s meeting of the BCC was scheduled for 14.00. Because only five of its members – Dragos Vicol, Iurie Colesnic, Mariana Onceanu-Hadarca, Olga Gututui and Nicolae Damaschin – were present, the chairman announced a 30-minute break, waiting for other members to join them.

After the break was over, the situation did not change. Dragos Vicol informed the journalists present in the room that two BCC members, Cristina Duca and Artur Cozma, were on business trips, and that he does not know why other two members, Dinu Ciocan and Olga Barbalata, were absent.

In order for the meeting to be valid, at least six BCC members should be present.

BCC member Nicolae Damaschin says he cannot remember of a similar situation at the BCC in the six years of his membership.

In their turn, TV8 representatives who were present in the room told Media Azi that “the lack of quorum was related to the examination of the request for transfer of the TV8 broadcast license.”
