Last year, the Printing Agency “Universul” refused to print the last edition of the magazine “Acasă” of December, 2017. Recently the magazine director, Nicolae Josan, told Media-azi.md that they have signed a new contract with this company stipulating that the Printing Agency has no responsibility for the content of the publication.

The new director of the Printing Agency, Titus Manole, confirmed for Media-azi.md that the agency has signed a new contract with the magazine “Acasă”. He added that these documents are signed every year and are valid for one year. Titus Manole declared that he does not know details of the refusal to print the last edition of the magazine “Acasă” of 2017.

We remind you that the former administrator of the Printing Agency “Universul” Iurie Gabura refused to print the magazine “Acasă” in December, claiming financial debts the publication had to pay to the agency. According to Josan, the unofficial reason of the refusal was a page with caricatures displaying the president of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon and the chair of the Democratic Party, Vladimir Plahotniuc. Consequently, the publication had to find another printing agency to print the magazine.

At the beginning of January this year, Iurie Gabura resigned “because of the finalization of the work contract”, he declared for Media-azi.md.

The director of the magazine “Acasă”, Nicolae Josan, says that this case has raised the interest of the US and EU embassies to Chișinău. The media NGOs published a statement to ask the administration of the State Company Printing Agency “Universul” “to provide public explanations in relation to this case and ensure open collaboration with all the periodical publications, without imposing illegal restrictions and applying solutions that would hinder their operation”.
